Mr. Paul Patz, 89, of 217 River Drive, Pound, WI died peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2000 at St. Vincent's Hospital of Green Bay after a two month battle with cancer.

Mr. Patz, a prominent businessman of Marinette county, was born April 27, 1911 at Pound to the late John and Augusta (Tisbusch) Patz. He attended White Potato Lake School in the town of Beaver completing fourth grade. He married Mamie Stank on November 20, 1935 at Section Eight Baptist Church with Rev. Samuel Kostreva officiating. Mr. Patz was a faithful, active member of the First Baptist Church of Pound where he served as a deacon and was active in Christian service until his home going to heaven.

In 1948, he and his wife Mamie co-founded Patz Sales, Inc., formerly Patz Company, in Pound. In 1960, the couple also co-founded Northland Mission Inc. in Dunbar, WI leading to the establishment of a summer Bible camp ministry in 1961 and a Bible college ministry in 1975.

Mamie Patz preceded him in death on March 22, 1994. Mr. Patz then married Sadie Murroch on August 12, 1995. His loving wife survives with seven children: Arlene Sailer of Pound, Mrs. Harold (Laverne) Grosse of Grand Junction, CO, Clifford (Nancy) Patz, Howard (Valerie) Patz and Mrs. Roger (Eleanore) Gusick all of Pound. Harold (Joan) Patz of Dunbar and Darrell (Jeannie) Patz of Coleman; 27 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Agnes Borkowski of Milwaukee, and Hannah Heisel of Texas. He is also survived by stepson Gerald (Garnet) Murroch of Milwaukee and a stepdaughter, Sharon Paul, also of Milwaukee, three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his four brothers - Charles, August, Elmer and Harry Patz; and three sisters -Alms Dutz, Harriet Grudda and Gustie Beisel.

On Monday, November 20, 2000 friends and relatives called at Coleman High School, Hwy. 141 in Coleman for visitation from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a memorial tribute at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, November 21, 2000 visitation was held at the Pioneer Fitness Center on the campus of Northland Baptist Bible College, W 10085 Pike Plains Road, Dunbar, WI from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. with Dr. Les Ollila, President of NBBC, officiating.

On Wednesday, November 22, 2000 visitation will be held from 9 a.m. at First Baptist, Pound until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Frisby officiating. Burial services will be at the First Baptist Cemetery in Pound. The Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established in his memory at the First Baptist church, POB 3, Pound, WI. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Anthony Sailer, Trevor Grosse, Duane Patz, Jeremy Patz, Peter Gusick, Daniel Patz and Spencer Patz. David the psalmist said, Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. "
