Mountain
Paul was born June 28, 1930 in Gillett. He is the son of the late Gust and Rose (Fuchs) Elbe. Paul was raised in the Mountain area where he attended Holtspur and Mountain schools, graduating in 1944. Paul married Doris Rasmussen November 9, 1950. He worked for Sweeney Bros., Inc. for 36 years as a stone laborer, and general contractor Decoster Construction for 11/2 years as a carpenter and master journeyman. He retired October 1, 1987 from Timme Inc. after working there five years as a project and area supervisor.
Paul was very active in his community. He was a supervisor for the Town of Mountain for eight years, served on the Mountain Fire Department for 28 years, and was involved with the Mountain 4-H club for four years serving as a project leader in woodworking and gardening. Paul served on the Mountain Historical Society for three years where he was the First Vice President for one year.
Paul has been a proud member of Tabor Lutheran Church for 69 years. During that time he served as treasurer for nine years, Janitor for 10 years, and as an usher. In 1984 Paul received a plaque from the Mountain Fire Department for his years of service. Paul was also credited for his hard work and restoration of the Old Log House Museum that serves as a historical site in Mountain's Fireman's Park. The Welcome Sign and Freight Wagon in the center of town of Mountain was also the craftsmanship of Paul's steady hand. These are just a few of the many accomplishments Paul shared with his community, family, and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife Doris of 53 years; two daughters and their families, Claudette (Pat) Davis of Mesa, AZ and Paulette (James) VanDeHey of Green Bay; his sons, Peter (Marilyn) Elbe and Jerry Elbe all of Mountain; a daughter-in-law, Twyla Elbe of Suring; three sisters, Esther Markusen of Two Rivers, Ruth Olson of Mountain and Rose Marie Swanson of Blackwell; two brothers, Robert (Marvel) Elbe, Tom (Marge) Elbe all of Mountain; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three on the way; many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Reinhold and Walter, his sister, Donna Bauerfeind.
Visitation was held on Monday at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring. Funeral service was conducted 12 noon Tuesday, August 26 at Tabor Lutheran Church in Mountain, Pastor Paul Schuenemann officiating. Burial in Mountain Cemetery.
A memorial has been established at Tabor Lutheran Church. Paul's family would like to thank Unity Hospice, his nurse Paula Rose, and all of our family and friends for your prayers and support.
