Otto Schindel

Gillett Wisconsin--Otto Schindel passed away on May 12, 1975. Otto was born in Dabie, Poland on August 20, 1912 to Emil Schindel and Ernestine Muth. He came to the United states with his mother in August of 1913. His father arrived before them on April 2, 1913. Mr. Schindel grew up on the family farm on Golden Corners Road in the Town of Oconto Falls. When he was old enough, he hunted and fished to help raise his younger brothers and sisters as his father died when he was 14. After he left home, he spent most of his life in the Gillett area. He worked at the plywood factories until he retired. Otto continude to hunt and fish. He would travel to Oconto Falls to visit his brothers and sisters weekly. On May 12, 1975, he was returning to Oconto Falls from the Stiles greenhouse where he had bought flowers for his mothers grave on Mothers day. Otto took ill in his vehicle on the Stiles road and by the time he was noticed, it was too late.

He was preceded in death by his father Emil Schindel, his mother Ernestine Muth Schindel and one older brother, Frederick who passed away in Dabie, Poland shortly after birth and one sister, Mrs. Oscar (Olga) Mayer.

Mr. Schindel is survived by Gustav Schindel of Oconto Falls; Adolph Schindel of Morgan; William Raatz, a half brother, of Gillett; Mrs. Leo (Lillian) Schwittay of Marinette; Mrs. Chester (Anna) Wirtz of the town of Morgan; Mrs. Anthony (Frieda) La Brosse of Oconto Falls; and Mrs. Wilfred (Martha) Falash of Spruce .

Services will be held at the Soulek Funeral Home in Oconto Falls on Wednesday, May 14, 1975. The Rev. Karl Diemer will officiate and burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls, Wis.
