Norman Wasmund, 64, Gillett, passed away
unexpectedly Saturday evening, July 14,
2001, at the V.A. Hospital, Iron Mountain, MI.
He was born April 26, 1937, in the Town of
Underhill, to the late Paul and Esther (Runge)
Wasmund. He served in the U.S. Army
during peacetime. On June 9, 1962, Norman
married Charlotte Ammerman in Suring. She
preceded him in death December 3, 1994.
Norman farmed in the Town of Underhill. He
custom sawed lumber in the summer and
logged cedars, off his land, in the winter. He
was a member of Christ Lutheran Church,
Hintz. Norman was a member of Oconto
County Trout Unlimited, and the Suring and
Underthill sportsmen's clubs. He was a
former member of the Town of Underhill Fire
Dept. He enjoyed building bird houses and
feeders. Norman was an avid fisherman and
an avid turkey and deer hunter. He loved
going out West, elk hunting. He enjoyed
playing cards, dartball, and pool.
Norman is survived by his children and two
daughters-in-law, Michael and Ann, Gillett;
Barb Wasmund, Park Falls; Derrick and
Rainie, Greenville; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Clarence and Esther,
Mountain; Robert and Odile, Suring; three
sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence Neitzel,
Lomira; Marion and Milt Pederson,
Milwaukee; Dorothy and Albert Saffouri, Lake
Havasu City, AZ; Lester Polzin, West Allis;
two grandchildren, Ashley Wasmund, Wade
Wasmund; nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. Norman is also survived by his
puppy dog, Squirt.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters
and two brothers-in-law, Helen and Donald
Brandt; Ethel Polzin; and Victor Neitzel.
Friends called Wednesday at the Kuehl
Funeral Home, Gillett. Funeral services were
10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at Christ
Lutheran Church, Hintz, with Deacon Ralph
Beversdorf officiating. Interment in the
church cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established and
will be designated at a later date.
