Norma E. Johnson, 91, Kelly Lake, passed away on April 8, 2016 after a short
stay at Woodland Village Nursing Home. Norma was born in Oconto Falls on
December 11, 1924 to the late Gustave and Myrtle (Harvey) Erickson. She
attended school in Kelly Brook, was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School
and Marinette County Teacher's College. Norma taught in many 1 room country
schools. Norma Erickson married Lee J. Johnson on May 29, 1948 at St. Marks
Lutheran Church in Spruce. Norma and Lee lived at Kelly Lake all of their
married life and Lee preceded her in death on April 4, 2013.
Norma was a homemaker and always busy canning, knitting and crafting items
for individuals and church bazaars. She enjoyed going for a ride on Sunday
afternoon, reading and she belonged to the Bookclub Girls Group. Her true
passion was making quilts. She enjoyed attempting new patterns as well as
those she learned from her mother. She used many of the quilts as gifts. She
continued sewing until 2 weeks of her passing.
Norma attended the Hickory United Methodist Church for 66 years. She was a
member of the Hickory UMW, Sunday School Teacher, Communion Steward, and was
always involved in the various church fundraisers.
Norma is survived by her 3 children, LoAnn (Scott) Elbe, Dean (Sandy)
Johnson, Darel (Charlotte) Johnson; grandson, Jonathon Johnson; 2 brothers,
Alton Erickson and Orland Erickson. She is further survived by many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Lee; her sister, Winifred
(Conrad) Lepak; her brother, Bernard (Wilma) Erickson.
Visitation will be held at Hickory United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April
12, 2016 from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Henry Yoap
officiating. Norma will be interred in Hickory Cemetery. Gruetzmacher
Funeral Home in Suring is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can
