Norman “Sonny” Brabant, Jr
Norman “Sonny” Brabant, Jr., 85, Green Bay, died peacefully Friday, May 24,
2013 at a local nursing home. He was born September 22, 1927 in Oconto to
Norman P. and Pearl (Shallow) Brabant.
Sonny served his country in the U.S. Army. After his return from the
service, he farmed in Oconto and started his career in automotive sales in
the early 1960’s. He also worked in truck sales and was one of the best
salesmen in Green Bay. In his retirement, Sonny worked at Green Bay Country
Club from its start in 1995 until retiring due to illness. In his early
years, Sonny enjoyed golfing and spending time up north with his deer
hunting buddies. He greatly enjoyed going to breakfast at many area
restaurants and reading “the funnies” every morning.
Sonny is survived by his 13 children and their spouses: Pat and Duayne
Rosenberg, Tom and Carol Brabant, Jack and Carla Brabant, Sue and John
Drella, Debbie Kropp and special friend, Jim Greenheck, Mary Jo and Verle
Garrigan, Randy Brabant, Chris and Kathy Brabant, Craig Brabant and special
friend April Sansom, Jason and Tara Brabant, Jennifer and Mason Williams,
Jessica and Ben VanLaanen, Adam Brabant and fiancée Jessica Mettler; 38
grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his
eight brothers and sisters and their spouses: Mary Kamin, Genevieve and
Allie Young, Audrey and Oren Woodworth, Rita and Bob Norton, Joe and Ina
Brabant, Bernice Leigh, Bob and Connie Brabant, Bonnie and Don Termaat. He
is also survived by a special friend, Sally Chaloupka as well as many
nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Sonny was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Brabant; a
great-grandson, Orion McGown; five siblings, Francis Brabant, Lawrence
Brabant, Joyce Presl, Dean Brabant and Gloria Gauthier; son-in-law, Jerry
Kropp.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 2 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday. Sharing of Memories will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday followed
by Military Honors.

Sonny’s family would like to thank Marc Davison and his staff at Green Bay
Country Club for allowing him to do what he loved the most for so many
years. Special thanks also to all of the nurses and staffs of Parkview Manor
and Unity Hospice for all of their wonderful care of Sonny and his family.
