First White Child Born at Brookside
Mrs. Joseph Fumell, Passed Away at Oconto Hospital Monday Night

Oconto - Mrs. Joseph Fumell, aged 70 years, the first white child born at Brookside, Wis., died here last evening at 11:00 o'clock, in the hospital. Carcinoma is given as the cause of death.

The deceased, nee Mary Weed, was born at Brookside, Dec. 31st, 1857. She was married to Mathew Hanrahan in 1878. He died six years later. She then was married to Joseph Fumell about 30 years ago, and has made Oconto her home since.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Fumell, one daughter, Mrs. Gregory Fumall of Summit Lake, and two grandchildren, Justina and Gregory Fumall, jr.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the late home on Smith Ave., with services of the Christian Science Church, of which she wasa member. Interment will be in the Oconto Evergreen Cemetery.
