MRS. P.G. ESSON DIES AT McCORMICK HOME  
 

Mrs. P.G. Esson, 85, one of Oconto’s oldest residents, died Thursday morning at the McCormick home in Green Bay, following a paralytic stroke.

Mary Slatlery was born on August 4, 1844, Dellhousie Restigo, Province of Ontario. She came to this city in 1866 by stage from Green Bay to Stiles, the only source of transportation. The following year she was united in marriage to Peter G. Esson in the St. (??) church, the only church here at the time. Her husband, a well known lumberman, preceded her in death two years ago. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Barbara Wild…(?) of Seattle, Wash., and many nieces and nephews.

For the past several years, Mrs. Esson lived with her niece, Mrs. Nellie Grant. Last September she went to the McCormick home where she remained until her death.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the beautiful parlors of the McCormick home, Rev. Vanvogart officiating. Interment was made in the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Besides many Oconto friends the following out of the city people attended the funeral services: Mrs. Nellie Grant and daughter; Mrs. Earl Lillydahl of Milwaukee; George Grant, Oconto; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Caldwell, Oshkosh; Mrs. Ida Burnside and daughter, Mrs. Bushy of Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Slattery of Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gus..(?) of Oconto Falls.
