Meta M. (Schmidt) Anderson
Meta M. (Schmidt) Anderson, 91, Plymouth, formerly of Oconto Falls, died
peacefully on Wednesday April 3, 2013 with her loving children by her side.
Meta was born October 16, 1921, in Cecil, Wisconsin to Henry and Martha
(Wagner) Schmidt. Meta graduated from Shawano High School and also from
Oshkosh Teacher's College.
On August 12, 1943, Meta married Clarence N. Anderson and moved to Oconto
Falls, where they began to live a life based on their faith. For many years
they were privileged to have a Sunday Fellowship Meeting in their home.
Clarence was a partner in the Anton Anderson & Sons Lumber Company in Oconto
Falls, and Meta was a teacher at area one-room country schools. Following
her teaching days, Meta was a nurse at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto
Falls, and finished her working days in the office there.
Clarence and Meta raised a family of three children, Diane, Wayne and David,
and were blessed with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. As a young
family they enjoyed camping trips in the camper they built togther by hand,
and trips out West and to Canada. In later years they also enjoyed trips to
Alaska, a trip to Grand Cayman Islands, and also to England. A loving and
gifted woman, Meta was always sharing the bounty of her talents or her
garden with others. Sewing, cooking, crocheting, knitting and needlework
were things that Meta enjoyed doing and giving to others. She especially
enjoyed for many years a quilting circle with special friends from her
hospital days.
Meta was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Reuben Schmidt, one
sister Ruth Eckert and her husband Clarence who passed away on December 22,
2007.
She is survived by her children Diane (Leonard) Hunt, Howards Grove; Wayne
(Cherie) Anderson, Elkhart Lake; David (Susan) Anderson, Oxford, MI. Eight
grandchildren, Jason (Dr Tami) Hunt and daughters Mazie and Kinley; Lynae
Hunt; Andrew (Devon) Anderson and sons Arjen and Augustus; Arden (Traci)
Anderson and son Aden and daughter Adalin; Adam (Shannon) Anderson and son
Alexander; David (Susan) Anderson and daughters Maria Sorrentino, Allison
Anderson, and Lindsay Anderson.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, 920-848-2222,
from 4 to 8 Friday, April 5, 2013. Visitation will continue at Jones Funeral
Service after 10 am on Saturday, April 6, 2013 until the time of service at
11am with Robert Eberhart and Lynae Hunt officiating. Graveside services
will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls, WI.
