The holiday season was saddened for the family of Mrs. Walter Lucas, 65 who died Monday evening at Community Memorial hospetal. The remains are at the Soulek Funeral Home in Oconto Falls and will be in state from noon on Thursday until the hour of the services.
The last rites will be conducted on Friday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. Huntley C. Lewis in the chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. and Mrs. John Bryant will sing "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Interment will take place in the Volk Family cemetery, as Mrs. Lucas is the daughter of a pioneer family.
Mrs. Lucas was born Myrtle Rice in Oconto Falls and had lived in the area most of her life. She was married to Mr. Lucas December 29, 1909, who died August 30 of this year. Since his death she has been living with her daughter, Mrs. David Gibson, R. 1, Lena.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include five daughters, (June) Mrs. Clifford Amore, at Oconto; (Verna) Mrs. David Gibson, Lena; (Shirley) Mrs. Willard Knaus, Oconto Falls; (Nancy) Mrs. Jerrold Wendt, Green Bay and (Evelyn) Mrs. Richard Coopman, Menasha; a son, Howard, who lives at Little Suamico; one brother, Arthur Rice of Oconto.
