Margaret (Peg) Pinkerton Erzinger, 82, died on Jan. 29, 2012, at her home at
Kelly Lake, surrounded by all her children and grandchildren. She was born
April 25, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., to Ralph and Margaret (Nicol) Pinkerton.
She was a graduate of South Shore High School and attended Monticello
College and the University of Georgia.
On Oct. 11, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Howard F. Erzinger
in Chicago Ill. She had, and is survived by her four children, Pamela
Remick, Bemidji, Minn.; Douglas (Denise) Erzinger, Hanover Park, Ill.; Kim
(Gary) Fontaine, Green Bay, Wis.; Kurt (Susan) Erzinger, Kelly Lake Wis. She
loved and spoiled her ten grandchildren, Kimberly, Matt, Kirby, Kelly,
Stacey, Neil, Eric, Cody, Erin and Jackie; as well as 15 great-grandchildren
and nieces and nephews. Also survived by a dear brother-in-law, Robert
(Marijo) Erzinger.
Peg had a great love of life and an inquisitive nature, which lead her to
many interests, such as: travel to dozens of countries; giving of her time
to others, especially to Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls, Wis.,
where she founded the Volunteer Unit well as serving as longtime president;
painting; swimming (and an accomplished diver); fishing, where her skill
even impressed her father-in-law, "Grumpy" Erzinger; and one of her greatest
loves, cooking, where she was unrivaled as a hostess and creator of such
family classics as " Chic Tet", turkey soup, and her famous cheesy potatoes.
Peg and Howie retired to Kelly Lake in 1982, in the dream home they had
designed together in 1967. She continued to live there after Howie's death
on Feb. 20, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nancy (Bob)
Hayden.
