ANOTHER OLD SETTLER OF ROCKLAND PASSES AWAY.
Feb. 2, 1842 to Dec. 20, 1919

Mrs. Mary Ryan, widow of Dennis Ryan, died in her home in the town of Rockland on Saturday morning, with all the rites of the Catholic church, of which she always had been a most faithful member. She was conscious to the last and prayed to the Lord un- til the end came. She called all her children to her bedside, and then clos- ed her eyes peacefully in sleep. Her children were all there except Bridget of Marinette and John of Bowman, N. D., who arrived too late.

The funeral was held from St. Francis church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, with interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Mrs. Ryan was born in Parish Dun- drum, County Tipperary, Ireland. She came to Wisconsin with her parents in 1858, and was married in St. Francis church to Dennis Ryan in 1860. Mr. Ryan died in 1892, from an old wound received in the Civil war. They set- tled on a farm in Rockland where Mrs. Ryan had lived ever since. She was taken ill in June 1913 and had been unable to walk since September, 1914. She is survived by five children, James, Dennis, and Josie at home; Bridget of Marinette, and John of Bowman, N. D.; seven grand children, and three brothers, John Ryan of Es- canaba, Philip Ryan of Stiles and Michael Ryan of La Seur, Minn. All her children and brothers came to attend the funeral. No one knew how much Mrs. Ryan suffered, said one of her friends. She was patient and cheerful and always happy to meet her many friends.
