Butch was born May 1, 1944 at Oconto, the son of Marvin and Ethel (Whiting) DeWindt. He worked much of his life as a carpenter for Local #1146 and retired in January of 1999 due to illness. On April 21, 1978, he married the former Jayne Kumbalek. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a member of Ss. Francis and Wenceslaus Catholic Community.
Surviving are his loving wife Jayne: two sons, Kory and special friend Bobby, Manitowoc; Chris and fiancee Michelle, Wausau; three daughters, Dareth and special friend Brandon, Antigo; Camylle and fiancee, David, Suring; Desirre and fiancee Jeff, Kelly Lake; his mother, Ethel DeWindt, Green Bay; four sisters, Carol (Arnie) Micolichek and Donna (Wayne) Kopatz, Green Bay; Diane (Harold) Kopatz, Beaver; Delores Baenen and special friend, Roger, New Holstein; six grandchildren, Devon, Hailey, Dakota, Devin, Kyra, and Brett; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and Hilary Kumbalek, Manitowoc. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many friends, all who were special to Butch.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul, his father Marvin, and a brother Ronald.
Friends called at Ss. Francis and Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Klondike from 8:30 until 10:45 AM Monday, January 17, 2000. Funeral Mass 11 AM Monday at the Church. The Rev. Fr. John Hephner officiated. Interment at Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman assisted the family.
