Lifetime Resident of County Passes Away
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 from her home in Couillardville and 2 o'clock from the Presbyterian church in Oconto. Rev. S. H. Lloyd officiated. Burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were Ion Couillard, Andrew Couillard, Merle, Roy and Arthur Matravers and Allen Porterfield.
The deceased was born Mary Matravers, Dec. 19, 1861, in the town of Oconto. Prior to her marriage to Edwin Couillard, she taught school for three years, one year each in Maple Valley, Oconto Falls and County Line, which was known as Hart's crossing at that time. On July 2, 1881 at the Matravers home in Couillardville she was united in marriage to Edwin Couillard. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and a charter member of the Couillardville Presbyterian church.
Survivors are: her husband, two daughters, Mrs. D. J. Laduron, Brookside and Mrs. L. R. Fox, Columbus, Wis., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, one brother, Yarwood Matravers, Oconto Falls; one sister, Mrs. Martha Porterfield, Oconto. One son, Asa, preceded her in death two years ago.
