Mike Jule Lipp Obituary

 

Mike J. Lipp, 88, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013. Mike was born May 4, 1925 in Lena to the late Lawrence and Kathryn (Moritz) Lipp. He married Loretta Bitters on June 14, 1947. Mike was a Navy Veteran of WWII, serving from 1943-1945. Mike was a self-employed fish and seafood salesman for 39 years. After retirement, he wintered in southern Texas for 24 years. He enjoyed golfing, camping and fishing. He was a member of First American Lutheran Church, Oconto and the Oconto Jones Modrow Young American Legion Post #74. Mike is survived by his wife Loretta, of 66 years, and their 7 children: Cathy (Philip) Augustine, Oconto; Marsha (Robert) Hermsen, Naples, FL; Bradley (Marie) Lipp, Oconto; Carla (Steven) Woods, Sheboygan; Gayle (J. Bradley) Hanes, Hudson; Bryan (Lisa Federico) Lipp, Kennett Square, PA; Brenda Zimanek, Oconto; 11 grandchildren, Scott Augustine, Tricia (Bryan) Keltner, Teri (Kerry) Scanlon, Andrew (Brooke VanLanen) Hermsen, Abbey Woods, Elliot Woods, Meghan (Patrick) Hannon, Gregory Hanes, Ryan Hanes, Kelly Lipp, Kristy Lipp; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Beverly Hegeman, Lena; Shirley Imig, Oconto; Barb (Bill) Eckes, Abrams; and a brother-in-law, Roger (Rita) Bitters, Oconto. Mike was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Louis, Conrad, Frank, Steve, and Joseph Lipp; 6 sisters, Theresa Coshenet, Kathryn Belongia, Mary Smith, Susan Denny, Ann Le Mieux, and Eva Lipp; a son-in-law, Kenneth Zimanek; 2 brothers-in-law, Byron Bitters and Kenneth Bitters; and his in-laws Henry and Mabel Bitters. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, November 21, 2013. Visitation will continue on Friday, November 22, from 10 to 11 AM at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Friday at the church with the Rev. Mary E. Zupansic officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by the Oconto American Legion Post #74. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First American Lutheran Church, Oconto.
