Maxine Janssen JAHNKE

Mrs. Roy (M. Marine) Jahnke, 70, 5276 Oak Orchard Road, Abrams, died Saturday afternoon, January 9, 1999 at home.

The former Maxine Janssen was born November 19, 1928 at Abrams to the late Edward and Della (Roy) Janssen. Maxine graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1946. She married Roy Jahnke on January 7, 1950 in Abrams. The couple farmed in the Town of Abrams for 48 years. She worked in the Green Bay Postal Department for 15 years, and later was Postmaster in Abrams for 7 years, retiring in 1992. Roy preceded her in death on June 22, 1998. Maxine enjoyed needlepoint, reading, gardening, and her grandchildren.

Surviving are eight children and their spouses, Carol and Ron Kane, Lyle and Donna Jahnke, James and Karen Jahnke, and Rob and Cheryl Jahnke all of Abrams; Kenneth and Sharon Jahnke and Roger Jahnke, Green Bay; Dick Jahnke, Oconto Falls and Steve and Loni Jahnke, Brookside; Abrams; grandchildren, Jamie Kane, Dawn (John) Havemeier, Jeff, Shawn, Jason (fiancée, Kathy), Matt, Joe, Megan, Bryan, Lora, John (Suz), Kelly (fiancé, Joel), Doug, Royce, Sam, and Josh Jahnke, Jason and Leanna Arnoldi; a special cousin, Doris Larson, Oconto; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Beverly Jahnke, Abrams and a brother-in-law, Emil Kuhn, Oconto.

Maxine was further preceded in death by a sister JoAnn Gagnon, an infant brother Edward, and a sister-in-law Delores Kuhn.

Visitation was held at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto from 3 until 8 PM Monday, January 11, 1999. Parish prayers 7:30 PM. Friends also called at St. Louis Catholic Church Abrams from 10 AM until 10:45 AM Tuesday, January 12, 1999. Funeral Mass 11 AM Tuesday at the Church. The Rev. Gerald Prusakowski, O.F.M. officiated. Interment at Brookside Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to the Abrams First Responders and the Oconto Falls ambulance Service for their care given to Maxine.
