Marshall Demeuse Obituary

Marshall John Demeuse, Suamico, 66, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 after a one year courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was born Aug. 18, 1945, to Helen (Rumpf) and Louis Demeuse in Oconto Falls, Wis.

Marshall graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1963 and strived to be the best in everything he did. He loved participating in the pep, marching and concert bands. While in high school, he earned a music scholarship to Elmhurst College, Ill., during the summer. He loved all types of music including marches, polkas, big band, classic, country and gospel. Marshall was a Boy Scout and earned his Eagle Scout award. For two summers, Marsh was a camp counselor at Bear Paw. He was fortunate to go to the National Jamboree in 1960 at Colorado Spring, Colo.

He was the first among all his extended family members to get a college degree with majors in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

After graduation, the Viet Nam war was going strong, so Marshall enlisted. He started as a Private in the Infantry and came out a First Lieutenant and Commanding Officer in Military Intelligence with the Army Security Agency in less than three years. He trained thousands of troops.

Knowing he would not go to Viet Nam, Marsh married the former Paula Prokopovitz at the Chapel at Fort Devens near Boston, Mass., on Oct. 2, 1968, with family members flying in to attend. A reception was held in Milwaukee when they returned to Wisconsin. The newlyweds toured the East Coast from Massachusetts to Georgia, settling in North Carolina at Fort Bragg.

After his honorable discharge, Marsh's career developed in the food industry working for Kohl's Food Store, Jay Brokerage Company, ConAgra Professional Food Systems and Meat Processors. Marshall enjoyed yard work, gardening and going to the cabin in Mountain with his brother, Sherm, his son, David and grandsons, Brandon and Derek. He looked forward to hunting, fishing and card playing with his family and buddies. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees and was also a member and Past President of the Sunrise Optimist Club of Green Bay.

Marshall is survived by his wife of 43 years, Paula; one son, David (Michelle) from Bellevue and two grandsons, Brandon and Derek; one brother, Sherman (Chris) Demeuse; sister-in-law, Julie (Edward) Dobersek, Canton, Mich.; brother-in-law, Steve (Ruthanne) Proko, Fox Point, Wis.; and other cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will take place Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1110 Echo Lane, Green Bay, where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. with Pastors Randall Richter and Jill Connery officiating. Military rites to follow.

The family would like to thank the Bellin Cancer Clinic, Unity Hospice and the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence for all their wonderful care.

A memorial fund has been established in Marshall's name. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
