Mabel J. Blazek, 79, of the Kelly Lake area died on September 4, 2001 at her home. The daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Konop) Blazek was born on October 22, 1921 at the home in which she lived her entire life. She completed her education at Oak School in the town of Spruce. Mabel, along with her brother, Melvin and Joe, operated the home farm for many years and was well-known for her Czech bakery and cooking. She was a member of the Wisconsin Czechs, Inc.

Survivors include a twin brother and his wife, Melvin "Bucky" and Mavis Blazek of Oconto Falls; three sisters-in-law, Ila Blazek of Oconto Falls, Lorraine Blazek of Coleman and Corrine Blazek Roscoe of Suring; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Libby Kopczynski and Mary Selner; and six brothers, Fred, Antone, Earl, Leo, Alfred and Joseph, Jr.

Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman from 9 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday, September 8. Funeral services were held Saturday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Mary Dahl from Unity Hospice officiating. Interment in Kadlec Cemetery, Town of Spruce. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials can be made to Wisconsin Czechs, Inc. If sent, they can be mailed to E. Brodshy, Treas., WIC, a 453 Fisk Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54904.
