Margaret "Peggy" Peters, 99, Abrams, died October 2, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls.

Margaret was born November 17, 1900 at Iron Mountain, MI to the late Thomas Henry and Sarah Ann (Lloyd) Grenfell. She attended elementary Washington and Hulst schools and graduated from High School in Iron Mountain in 1918. Her interests of early life were church work and Girl Scouts. She attended State College at Ypsilanti, MI and graduated from there in 1920 as an honor teacher. At College she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Her first teaching position was with Detroit, MI public schools and she also taught English, at night school, to Russians. During that time she attended Wayne University for extra credits. Later she taught in Highland, Park MI and Iron Mountain, MI until 1926. At that time she married Forrest E. Peters who was employed by Levy's Store in Iron Mountain. MI. Mr. Peters was employed later by Chrysler Corp. so his work took them to Texas. They returned to Abrams during the recession in 1929 and with Mr. Peter's parents they traveled back to Texas, on to California for two months, Yosemite Park, Crater Lake, and into the N.W. states, and home through Yellowstone Park and the Black Hills. Later they opened a grocery store in Abrams, which they operated for 20 years.

Mr. Peters passed away in 1957 so she taught school in Abrams for one year and later taught school for 14 years in Oconto, and attended St. Norbert College in Green Bay during the summer. She was a member of the Oconto First Presbyterian Church. As she grew older she joined the Methodist Church in Abrams. After 1963 she retired and spent her time traveling to Hawaii, Europe, and winter months at St. Petersburg, Florida for 31 years. She resided in Abrams, WI for 70 years where she enjoyed gardening, keeping house and driving during the summer and fall.

She is survived by a niece, Jeanette (Norman) Miller, Iron Mountain, MI; three nephews, Bud (Mia) Grenfell; Tom (Kay) Greenfell; David (Terry) Grenfell all of Kingsford, MI; several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Llewelyn Tudar Grenfell. Peggy made many friends during her life and will be dearly missed.

Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto. Funeral service was 10 a.m. Saturday, October 7 at United Methodist Church, Abrams with Rev. Fredrik Schulz officiating. Burial at Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, MI.
