"Mrs. Mary M. Calligan, a resident of Oconto for nearly sixty years died Sunday morning at 7:15 from diseases incident to old age. Mrs. Calligan has been ailing for the past year and a half. She was eighty-two years old at the time of her death.
"Deceased was born November 13, 1841 in Michaisport(sic) Maine. In 1864 she married Warren Calligan, who preceded her in death nineteen years ago. They came to Oconto in October 1865, and have lived here ever since. She is survived by two sons, Frank W. of Detroit, Mich., and George H. of Two Rivers; two daughters Maude and Emma at home; four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie H. Calligan, Grand Lake Stream, Maine; Mrs. Emma L. Dour, Boston, Mass.; Mrs. Jos. Ryan, Milwaukee; and Miss Clara Calligan of Oconto; and one brother, Tim Calligan also of Oconto. All the children were present at her bedside when she died.
"The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the home, Rev. Garrison officiating. At Mrs. Calligan's request "Lead Kindly Light" and "Sleeping Jesus" were sung at the services. Burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
"The pall bearers were; S.W. Ford, J.A. Urquhart, W.L. Bovee, Ed Millidge, J.A. Ramsey and Al Klass.
"Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. George Calligan and children from Two Rivers; Frank Calligan of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Jos. Ryan of Milwaukee."
