She was born June 30, 1904 to Henry and Annie (Koski) Bostedt in Oconto, WI and married Allen VanOordt December 30, 1937 in Oconto. They had been married nearly 50 years at the time of his death October 26, 1987. Mrs. VanOordt owned Peggy's Hat Shop in Oconto prior to moving to Spring Lake in 1937. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and their Altar Guild; and also The Avion Travel Club. She enjoyed gardening and knitting.
Margaret was the granddaughter of the original owners of Bostedt Park, now known as Oconto City Park.
Survivors include her son, Allen (Heleii) VanOordt, Grand Haven; six grandchildren: Pat (Jim) Best, Linda (Jared) Gieske, James (Kim) VanOordt, Joyce (Dann) Yonker, Thomas (Muriel) VanOordt and Robert VanOordt; also nine great-grandchildren; an aunt, Agnes Westergaard, Oconto, and special cousin, Mary Lee Westergaard, Oconto.
She was preceded in death by her son Harold in 1991; brother, Edward; and sister, Dealema "Bea."
Services were held on April 8, with interment in Spring Lake, MI.
