Mrs. Martha Burnet Passed Away in Summit, N. J.
RESIDENT CITY FIFTY YEARS
Remains Brought to Oconto Sunday
-Burial Took Place Monday Afternoon in
Evergreen Cemetery
Mrs. Martha Burnet passed away, after a prolonged illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Patton Clark in Summit, N.J., January 2nd.
Mrs. Burnet was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., March 1st, 1844. She with her husband, William Burnet, came to Oconto fifty years ago last September. He has been prominent in this county because of her charitable works. She has befriended many a needy family during periods of sickness because nature endowed her with exceptional ability as a nurse.
She lost her husband 11 years ago. Surviving her are Wm. H. Burnet of this city, Mrs. Matilda Ramsay of Green Bay and Mrs. Charles Patton Clark, Summit, N. J.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal church and of the Rebeccah lodge.
The remains of Mrs. Burnet arrived here Sunday morning and were taken to her late home. Her daughter, Mrs. Matilda Ramsay, who had been with her mother during her illness, accompanied the remains to Oconto. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from St. Mark’s Episcopal church, Rev. Sturgis of Fond du Lac officiating, with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
Fred Ramsay, grandson and wife and Drucilla Ramsay, great grand-daughter, of Goodman and Frank Ramsay, grandson, of Green Bay, attended the funeral of deceased.
