Alvin Birr

Alvin Birr, 84, Suring, died Thursday morning, October 11, 2012 at a Green Bay hospital. He was born October 5, 1928 to Henry and Fellicie (Halsted) Birr. On January 6, 1951 he married Florence Aprill and they had six children together. Alvin lived most of his life in rural Krakow where he owned and operated a farm and also was a drummer in area polka bands.

Survivors are his six children, Edna "Susie" Schuettpelz, Sobieski; Henry (Beth) Birr, Little Falls, MN; Audrey Arneson, Morgan; Richard "Dick" (Julie) Birr, New Berlin; Deb (Ron) Carter, Hutchinson, MN; George Birr, Breed; 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Gaertig, Morgan; one sister-in-law, Betty Birr, Krakow; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Otis and Earl (Jean) Birr and one brother-in-law, Gerald Gaertig.

Visitation will be held after 1 pm Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service at 3 pm. Cremation will follow with burial of the urn in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
