Adelore Belongia, 95,
resident of this community for more that three quarters of a century, died
Sunday morning at 3:30 in the Oconto hospital. He had made his home
with is son, Wesley, 264 Cook-av.
Mr. Belongia was born in Ontario, Canada, April 7, 1858, and came to Oconto at the age of 18. For 40 years he served as sexton of the Evergreen cemetery. He also worked as a mason.
The body was taken to the Gallagher Funeral where it lay in state until Wednesday morning. Funeral services were conducted at the funeral home at 8:30 Wednesday morning after which it was removed to St. Peters' Catholic church for final rites at 9 o'clock. Rev. Abner Laque officiated and burial was to the Catholic cemetery.
The Rosary was said by members of the parish Tuesday evening.
Surviving are fours sons,
Wesley and John of Oconto, Charles of Oconto Falls and Walter of Wauwatosa;
two brothers in Canada and two sisters in Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren
and 26 great-grandchildren.
