Louise Thompson MARTINEAU

Louise C. Martineau, 93, formerly of 2511 Riverside Ave., Marinette, died Saturday evening, March 20, 1999, at the Luther Home.

The former Louise C. Thompson was born January 20, 1906 in Osseo, Wi. She attended the former Downer College in Milwaukee and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1928. On October 19, 1928, she was married to James A. Martineau. With her husband, she moved to Gainesville, Fl. While Mr. Martineau attended the University of Florida. They returned to Madison, Wi. For the completion of her husband's law degree. In 1931, the couple moved to Oconto where he began his law practice. They resided in Oconto for 40 years, moving to Marinette in 1971 during her husband's second term as Circuit Judge.

Mrs. Martineau was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Charles Dickens Club and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. She was a former member of the University of Wisconsin Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, the Oconto Women's Club, Riverside Country Club, St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Women's Guild of the church.

Surviving are her husband, The Hon. James A. Martineau, Marinette; three sons, Attty. James P. Martineau, Minneapolis, Mn; USAF Col., retired, Pete Martineau, Sacramento, Ca.; Atty. Ted Martineau, suburban Chicago, Il; one daughter, Mary Martineau, an urban planner residing in Costa Mesa, Ca.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a future date and will be announced later. Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
