He was born in Underhill August 26, 1924 to the late John and Emelia Depner Zahn. Following serving in the Navy during WWII LeRoy married Beverly Walters June 19, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Gillett. LeRoy had been employed by Gordon Tousey as a truck driver, later he worked for Elmer Hubbard also driving. Then he drove and worked with John Zahn Logging his father's business for years and finally retired from Forrest Saw Mill in Wabeno. His hobbies included gardening, camping, and fishing. LeRoy had served as a Suring Area Firefighter, Suring Village Board Member, and currently was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring having also served as a Church Board Member.
Survivors include his wife Beverly; his two daughters and their families; Carol Daniel Krieser of Oconto Falls, Julie Lynn Steffeck of Suring; his son and family, Randal Karen Zahn of Gillett; one brother and his family, Delbert Maryann Zahn of Suring; two sisters Ella Nelson and Emma Oestreich both of Suring; two sisters-in-law Jeanne Zahn of Suring, Ruth Zahn of Gillett; seven grandchildren Zachary, Miranda, Caleb, Rachel, Jake, Kaitlynn and Liza.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers Melvin and Emmett; a sister, Leone McMillion; a grandson, Matthew.
Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Monday, April 16. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Suring with Pastor Michael Paholke officiating. Burial in Mt. Olive Lutheran Cemetery.
