The Martineau Funeral Was Held at Spruce
Mrs. Stanislaus Martineau, One of the Pioneer Settlers Passed Away on May 30.

Mrs. Louise Martineau died at her home in the Town of Spruce on May 30, at 15:45 P. M. She was 69 years, 3 months and 25 days of age at the time of her death. She was born at Oconto in the year of 1860.

 Her husband was the first settler in the town of Spruce. He came on the homertead May 24, 1870.

She was married to Stanealous Martineau on July 8, 1873, in the St. Peters Church at Oconto. She is survived by her husband and five children, one daughter, Mrs. Paul Burbey of Kelly Brook, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew, Town of Lena, Joseph of Kimberly, Paul and Leo of Fort Atkinson and Rolland at home. Four brothers, Thomu Remington, Oconto, David of Nahmo, Mich., George of Antigo and Albert of Laura Hill, Florida, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Sarah Landry of Hurley and Mrs. Sophia Emond of Kelly Brook; also 12 grandchildren; Helen, Cecelia, Hazel, John, Ralph and Jerome Martineau, Rolland, Godfrey, Vivian, Gary, Conrad Burbey, and Mrs. Wm. Fortier, and 5 great grandchildren, Pauline, Holland, jr., Clyde Burbey, VirginaP Mae and Patrica Portier. Funeral services were held June 3, at the Spruce Catholic Church and burial was made in the Spruce Catholic Cemetery, Rev. Ft. B. Hoppa officiating. B. R. Riess was funeral director.

Remington, all of Antigo; Mrs. Carrie Souriff and daughter Agnes, Mr. and Mrs. T. Carniveau (sic), Wilfred, Jack, Michael, and Victoria Brazeau, Mr. and Mrs. Elyer Tessier, Mrs. M. Pecor, Mrs. Valley, Mrs. W. Koske, Jane Soucier, Clarence Davis, and Mrs. Feal, all of Oconto; Mr. and Mrs. J. Remington, Mr. and Mrs. R. Remington, Mr, and Mrs. H, Shatusky, Menominee; Mr. and Mrs: J. BuckIey and son Junior, Mrs. J. Stanchina, Norway, Mich.; Julius Yourd, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. H. Pecard, Peshtigo; Mrs. C.
