Lydia Meyet, 90, of Suring, died on SaturdayMarch 27, 1999 at the Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring.
Born on October 8, 1908 in Russia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothea (Blank) Merkel. She married Henry Burmeister in 1936 Bellwood, Il. He preceded her in death in 1950. She married Reinhart Meyet on April 24, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Riverside. They lived in Elmhurst, Il. And she was a matron at the Lombard High School in Lombard, Il. Until retiring, when she and her husband moved to Townsend and later to Suring, where they have resided for the past 19 years. Lydia was a member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, Suring, a former Sunday School teacher and Red Cross volunteer in Illinois and enjoyed making afghans in her spare time.
Survivors include her husband, Reinhart; a daughter, Dorathea (Henry) Schmidt of Orange, Ca.;two granddaughters, Carrie Lynn (Paul) Masotto of San Clemente, Ca. And Christine Leann (Todd) Edwards of Pittsburg, Ca. And two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Philip. She was also preceded in death by a son,Arvin Burmeister, four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesdy March 31, 1999 at Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, Suring with the Rev. Melvin Thur officiating. Burial in St. John's Riverside Cemetery in the town of Oconto Falls. Friends called at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services. The Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring was in charge of arrangements.
