The daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara Slatky was born March 6, 1916 in Oconto County. Leona was married to Edward J. Kust on September 1, 1936 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spruce. She was a 4-H Leader in Marinette County, active in the Women's Club, a member of Ss. Francis & Wenceslaus Church, Coleman where she was a cup minister and member of St. Ann's Altar Society. Her husband preceded her in death on August 2, 1984.
Surviving are one daughter, Marie John Erbstoeszer of Mt. Vernon, WA; one son, Paul Mary Anne Kust of Coleman; four grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Clarkson and Mabel Blahnik of DePere; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by one son, Peter; one daughter, Darlene Kust, and one grandson, P.J. Kust.
Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman on Friday. A wake service was held. Visitation was at Ss. Francis & Wenceslaus Church, Coleman from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the tie of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Rev. John Hephner officiated. Interment in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Coleman.
