On June 25, 1949, he married the love of his life June Prausa. Louie worked at the Mecca in Milwaukee for 30 years, retiring August 1, 1981. After retiring the couple moved to Rogers, Ark., where they lived for 15 years. They returned to Oconto in June of 1996. Louie enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He loved living on the Oconto River, watching and feeding the birds and gardening. He was a great handyman to have around the house. Louie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, and the Jones Modrow Young Post of the American Legion. He served in the Army Air Corp. during World War II.
Louie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, June; a sister, Jean Plummer of Muskego, Wis.; nephew, William (Shelby) Yudes of Oconto; nieces: Betty Bullis of New Berlin, Karen Swendrowski of Franksville, Wis., Miriam Schyvinck and children of Columbus, Wis.; great nieces and nephews: Mike Yudes, Robin (Carey) Yudes, Betty Yudes, Lori (Jeff) Miller, David (Mary) Yudes, Pat (Laura) Bullis, Scott (Terri) Bullis, Jay (Lynn) Bullis, Jodi (Mike) Godsell, Susan Swendrowski and Brad Swendrowski; 17 great-great-nieces and nephews; and seven great-great-great-nieces and nephews. Louie is also survived by his in-laws: Duane Prausa, Roland (Rita) Prausa, Harold (Laura) Prausa, Betty Delcore and Darlene (Darwyn) Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife's parents; a sister, Mary Yudes; infant brother, James; nephew, Robert Yudes; and a special nephew in-law, Terry Bullis.
Friends may call at the GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, Oconto from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002. Visitation will continue Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Oconto. The Jones Morrow Young Post of the American Legion will conduct military rites
