Lloyd F. Behnke, 95, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Saturday morning,
September 24, 2016. He was born in the Town of Little River to Ferdinand and
Hulda (Last) Behnke. Lloyd grew up on the family farm, graduating from Lena
High School with the class of 1939. He went on to continue his education at
the vocational school in Marinette as a machinist.
On August 23, 1947 he married Ruth Fredrickson. The couple resided in Oconto
Falls where he was employed by the Scott Paper Co. for over 30 years until
retiring in 1985. Lloyd was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church where
he ushered and served on the church council. Along with his wife, they
enjoyed square dancing, camping and traveling the United States and Norway.
Lloyd enjoyed growing a garden and helping others, especially when it came
to fixing things.
Survivors are his wife of 69 years, Ruth Behnke, Oconto Falls; their two
daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Herald, Green Bay; Donna (Willie) Fabry, Oconto
Falls; nine grandchildren, who he loved and enjoyed, Brian, Katie and Mike
Herald; Jennifer (Jason) Reis, Cheryl (Mitchell) Ellwanger, Brenda Fabry,
Melissa (Adam) Calewarts, Kim (Joe) St. Louis and John Fabry; four great
grandchildren, Taylor and Easton Reis, Logan and Wyatt Ellwanger; one
brother, Floyd (Charmaine) Behnke, Lena; sister-in-law, Shirley Fredrickson,
Plymouth; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held after 9am Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Grace
Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls. Funeral services will be held 11am
Wednesday at the church with Pastor Gary R. Olson officiating. Burial will
follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
