Mrs. Lovina Classon Burnside, wife of W. H. Burnside, died at the family home in this city last Saturday morning, of diabetes, after a distressing illness of six months. The ailment was known three years ago, and nothing could be done to check its progress.

Mrs. Burnside's maiden name was Classon. She was born in Fort Covington, N.Y., Nov. 10, 1844, came with her parents to Manitowoc, this state, in 1853 and was married to Mr. Burnside in Manitowoc 34 years ago. Seventeen years later they settled in Oconto County, first at Stiles, later on their farm in the town of Oconto, and about four years ago in this city. Three children survive the deceased - George W. Burnside of Oconto Falls, Mrs. Clarence H. Royce now of Harris, IA and Mabel Burnside. Besides husband and children, two sister, Mrs. Adeline Macartney of this city, (South Side), and Mrs. John Whitcomb of Manitowoc, were at her bedside when she passed away.

Mrs. Burnside had been a member of the M.E. Church for several years and public funeral services were conducted in the church in this city on Monday afternoon by the Rev. Eltzholtz, assisted by the Revs. Ford and Macartney. The impressive services of the Ladies of the Grand Army, of the local circle of which she had been president, were rendered at the house and in Evergreen Cemetery by the president and chaplin, Mesdames J. O. W. Lacourcierre and Mamie Livingstone. All of the members of the local circle attended the funeral in a body. The high esteem in which the deceased lady was held was attested by the large audience at her funeral and the number of carriages in the corteage.
