Louis "Buster" E. Windey, 90, Oconto, died Friday, October 1, 1999 at Oconto Memorial Hospital. Louie was born February 26, 1909 in Oconto to the late Arthur and Lena (VanHulle) Windey. He married Pearl Wiegelt in 1953. She preceded him in death on July 20. 1990. Louie farmed in the area until 1945 when he entered the service in W.W.II. He served with Company A 8th Tank Battalion of the 4th Armored Division in Bastonge and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. Survivors include four sisters Margaret Doyle, Daytons Beach, FL; Florence Fredrickson of Waupaca; Helen Crooks, Green Bay; three step grandchildren, Steve, Mike, Bob Klarkowski, nine step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Louie was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Ray Windey, and two sisters, Elizabeth Stromberg and Cecile Routheau. Visitation was held at the Gallagher Funeral Home in Oconto from 4:00- 9:00 Sunday, October 3, with prayer services at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday October 4, at Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Site with the Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
