Lila Mae Browne WHITE

Lila Mae White (Browne), 67, died Wednesday, November 3, 1999, at the home of her daughter, with, family members present, after, an eight month battle with cancer.

Lila was born on May 20, 1932 in Milwaukee, to the late Erwin and Gertrude Browne (Redmerski). She graduated from Bayview High School. She was a resident of Milwaukee and Greendale for 45 years and spent the last 22 years in the Crooked Lake area. She was married to Eugene White on September 15, 1951 in Milwaukee upon his return from Korea. She started modeling at the age of eighteen in Milwaukee, for the Rhea Manufacturing Company and continued to model for several years in advertising and fashion shows in the Milwaukee area. She was a chartered member of the Greendale Jaycettes and a Greendale resident for about 20 years.

In 1978, Lila and her husband purchased The Pines Restaurant on Crooked Lake. They operated The Pines for 10 years before retiring in 1988, to remain in the area and enjoy the natural beauty of the Northwoods. She especially enjoyed feeding and watching the many deer, geese, ducks, turkeys, otters and bald eagles from her living room. Lila also enjoyed gardening and creating afghans, and was a talented painter.

She was preceded in death by her father, Erwin Browne, her mother, Gertrude Browne, her step-father, Raymond Ongie, her father-in-law, Jack White, and her brother, Daniel Browne.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Eugene White; her children, twin daughters, Jackie Randall (Tim), of Oswego, IL, Jeanne Kaster (Tom), of Suamico, WI, and daughter, Lori Kone (John) and Amanda Kaster, and Christopher and Jennifer Kone.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Helen White (Zwick), of Green Bay, WI.

Visitation was Saturday 12 noon until 4 p.m. November 6, 1999. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in Lila's name, in lieu of flowers, to benefit the Crooked Lake Fire Department, Crooked Lake, WI.
