Lynden (Bud) Smith, 79, of Galt, CA died December 25, 2001 in a San Francisco VA Hospital of heart failure.
He was born February 17, 1922, in Goodmann, WI. to the late Lynden and Olive (Whiting) Smith Peterson. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1940 where he participated in football and basketball. He was a World War II veteran in the Air Force, Grange member, Galt senior citizen member and the American Legion. He enjoyed crafts, building and woodworking.
In 1943 he married Lucille Capelli in san Rafael, CA. She preceded him in death. He married Lucille Hering in 1950 and she preceded him in death in 1998.
He is survived by his son, Gerald, Boise, ID; two sisters Helen Stache, Green Bay, Dolores (Bill) Saucier, Oconto; stepson Stanley Hering, California; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one uncle James Smith of Zephyr Hills, FL.; special friend Lola Stant of Gault; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held Sunday December 30, 2001 Ben Salas Funeral home with Pastor Norman Mowry of the First Methodist Church of Lodi officiating. Committal followed at Galt Cemetery.
