She was born on February 1, 1910 in Oconto to the late Frank and Regina DeWitt Van Harpen. She married William Kehl on June 10, 1931; he preceded her in death in 1974. Together Kathryn and Bill owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Little River for 30 years. She then went to work as a seamstress at the Marinette County Hospital for 14 years until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include one sister, Alice Zave, Appleton; one sister-in-law, Viola Van Harpen, Menasha; special friend, Bea Messenger, Oconto; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Schramm, and Mildred Polkey; four brothers, Walter, Alfred, Maurice, and Roy Van Harpen.
At this time there will be no services. There will be a graveside memorial service in the spring at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto is assisting the family with arrangements.
