He was born January 31, 1925 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of the late Edward L. and Gayles (Thompson) Upstone of Arthur, IL. On April 13, 1945, Karl married Margaretha "Margo" Meyer in Milwaukee. Karl was retired from Reynolds Metals Co., McCook, IL. He was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett.
He is survived by his wife, Margaretha "Margo"; a daughter, Susan Hancock of Lombard, IL; a son, Edward (Nancy) of Ashwaubenon; five grandchildren, David, Michael and Timothy (Karen) Hancock; Matthew (Angel) Upstone; Jennifer (Jeff) Forgette, and four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Lee Scott of Arthur, IL.
Karl was preceded in death by one brother, Dean. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Kuehl Funeral Home, Gillett, is assisting the family with arrangements.
