Karl R. Marcheske, 88, Oconto, formerly of Suring, died at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center in Oconto early Friday December 18, 1998. He was born in Underhill to the late Carl and Anna (Krause) Marcheske May 1, 1910. He married Helen Schroeder July 1, 1939. Karl had lived and farmed in the Town of How until retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes.

Survivors include his daughter and her family, Colleen (Brian) Schuettpetz of Shiocton; his son and his family, Cyril (Evelyn) Marcheske of Suring; four brothers, Adolph (Elsie) Marcheske of Cedarburg; Elmer (Harriet) Marcheske of Sheboygan; Walter (Martha) Marcheske of Sherwood; Clarence (Arnice) Marcheske of Sheboygan; two sisters, Sophie (Bill) Larien of Kohler; Martha Sommers of Sheboygan; six grandchildren and three great-grand-children.

Karl was preceded in death by his wife Helen on October 22, 1984; two sisters, Clara and Al- ga; one brother, Alfred and an infant son, Dale.

Friends called at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes Monday December 21, 1998 from 9:30 a.m. until funeral services 11 a.m. with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Graveside rites were held Monday at the Town of Morgan Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring was in charge of arrangements.
