Kent was born in Brookside and moved to Oconto Falls when a lad of nine. He attended school for the Falls Manufacturing Company for a time. He worked for the Tipler Lumber Company, and then returned to Oconto Falls where he operated a shoe shop and repair business for twenty three years before moving to Green Bay three years ago.
He was married to Miss Marvel Peterson, who survives, with one son, Sgt. James, stationed at Orlando, Florida with the Air Force, and a sister, Mrs. Howard Elliott, Sr., of Oconto Falls.
The remains lay in state at the Malcore funeral home in Green Bay until Wednesday morning when they were taken to Oconto Falls to lie in state at the Methodist church. Prayer services were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday evening by the Rev. J. Ellsworth Tucker of Green Bay. The Rev. Huntley C. Lewis conducted the final rites at the church at two Wednesday afternoon, and the Masonic Lodge 293, Oconto Falls held graveside rites in Woodlawn cemetery.
