Miss Kathryn Herald, well known schoolteacher of Oconto, succumbed to several months' illness at her home on New Years day at 2:20 am.

Miss Herald was a lifelong resident of this city, and a graduate of the Milwaukee State Teachers College. She was a member of the St. Joseph church, serving as secretary to the Altar Rosary society and an active member of the Oconto Catholic Woman's club. Two years ago, she made the famous pilgrimage to Rome, and upon her return gave many lectures on her experiences.

The deceased was a member of the Wisconsin Educational association and Retired Teachers association of Wisconsin, an active member and director of the Oconto County Historical society, secretary of the Oconto County Democratic organization, and a member of the Antique Collectors society, owing membership to her fine collection of old glass items.

Until four years ago, when she retired from the teaching profession, she taught for many years at the Lincoln grade school, and in other Oconto schools.

The body lay in state at the Sheffield Funeral home where rosary services were conducted by the Oconto Catholic Woman's club on Thursday evening, and by the parish of St. Joseph's church and the Altar Rosary society Friday evening. The requiem high mass was offered by St. Josephs church Saturday morning with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Noonan of Oconto and Mrs. George Melchoir of Milwaukee, and 12 nieces and nephews.
