Kathryn "Kay"
Kathryn "Kay" Chambers, 96, Oconto Falls, died Saturday morning, April 16,
2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Oconto Falls. She was born March 9, 1920
in Waukesha to John and Myrtis (Wallace) Wild. Kay grew up in Waukesha where
she graduated high school with the class of 1938.
On September 3, 1938 she married Alvin "Al" B. Chambers at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Waukesha. Following their marriage, the couple lived in
Milwaukee before purchasing the Lilac Supper Club west of Oconto Falls in
1946. The couple remodeled the establishment and ran it together until 1968.
Kay also worked for a time at Arlene Sager's fabric store in Oconto Falls.
Al and Kay retired to the Shadowbrook Community in Palmetto, FL in 1983
before returning to Oconto Falls in 2004. She was a member of St. Anthony
Catholic Parish in Oconto Falls and Holy Cross Catholic Church while living
in Florida, as well as the Altar Rosary Societies and was once involved in
the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors are her five daughters, Christine Ritter, Valrico, FL; "Cookie"
(Ken) Mathes, Hemet, CA; Susan (Bob) Allen, White House, TN; Kathy (Jim)
Reindl, Oconto Falls; Annette (Jim) Griffin, Howard; one daughter-in-law,
Roseann Chambers, Marinette; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; one
sister, Joan Trew, Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al in 2004, two sons, Bill
in 1983 and infant Tom Chambers, three son-in-laws, Scott Halverson, Ron
Ferrell and Orrie Ritter.
Visitation will be held after 9 am Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Anthony
Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Mass of Christian
Burial will be 11am Friday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Joel Sember
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Chambers family would like to thank Dr. Genadi Maltinski, Atrium Post
Acute Care of Oconto Falls and Unity Hospice for the care and consideration
shown Kay during their time together.
