JOSEPH ZIEREIS, 79, DIES SUNDAY AFTER TWO YEAR ILLNESS:

Joseph Ziereis passed away on March 27, 1938, at the home of his son Michael, in the Town of Armstrong. Mr. Ziereis had been confined to bed the past two years with heart trouble and infirmities due to old age.

Joseph was born on September 3, 1859, in Germany. He made his way to the United States in the year of 1885. Joseph married Christina Johnson on October 13, 1888, in Maple Valley, Wisconsin. Together they had nine children. Joseph was a farmer and logger. He also enjoyed trapping.

Survivors include his wife Christina, five son's, Micheal (Frances) Ziereis, Charles (Lena) Ziereis, George Ziereis, Joseph (Mable) Ziereis, Edward (Mildred) Ziereis, three daughters, Emma (Fred) Heimerl, Anna (Christ) Quandt, and Katheryn (Irvin) Schultz, and one brother Mike Ziereis. Joseph is preceded in death by one son, James.

A requiem high mass was held on Wednesday morning, an March 30, 1938, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring. The pallbearers for the funeral were Steven Piso, Charles Newbauer, Ray Heimerl, Frank Fonforek, Edward Flynn, and Joseph Hoerres. Joseph was buried at Union Cemetery, Breed.
