Joseph W. Rose, 53, R1-Lena, died unexpectedly last Wednesday morning at his home..

He was born in Lena on September 28, 1916. He was the son of Doctor and Mrs. Joseph Rose of Lena, was a lifelong resident of Lena and was a self-employed salesman. On February 14, 1939 he married Germaine McGuire of Lena. Mr. Rose was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters of Lena and the Holy Name society of St. Charles Catholic church of Lena.

Survivors include his wife, his parents; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Diane) Bublitz of Long View, Texas, Mrs. Donald (Maripat) Wallace and Miss Michele Rose, both of Milwaukee; four sons, Joseph of Santa Rosa, California, James of Green Bay, Michael in the U.S. Army, and Richard at home, and six grandchildren.

The body lay in state at the Soulek funeral home in Lena where a parish vigil was held Friday night. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Charles Catholic church. The Rev. Henry W. Bedussem officiated, and burial was in the church cemetery.
