John Windross

Friday 19 June 1903:
John Windross, a prosperous farmer of Pensaukee, living at Oak Orchard, died at his home Wednesday
afternoon. Mr. Windross was born in Yorkshire, May 21, 1821. In 1833 with his parents, Mr. Windross came to
this county settling first in Oneida county, New York. in 1837 he came to Wisconsin locating first in Brown
county and subsequently in Oconto county where he has since lived. He was one of the oldest settlers of the
county and perhaps as widely known as any of the earlier settlers. Mr. Windross was married in 1855 to Miss
Ann Redmond. Mr. Windross leaves a wife and four children, Mr. Judith Bell, Mrs. Hannah Snyder, Mrs. Sarah
Anderson, and Mrs. John Grosse.
Mr. Windross assisted in organizing the town of Pensaukee, has served on the county board and as justice of
the peace. The funeral will be held Saturday morning from St. Joseph's church."
