Mr. Reed, who was born in Oxford, Indiana, March 16, 1890, died at the Veterans Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan on Monday. He had been in ill health for a long time.
He grew to manhood in Oxford and at the age of 18 he enlisted in the army, serving four years and then was in the navy for 12 years. His marriage to the former Anna Richter took place in 1922. After he left the navy the couple operated a tavern in Abrams for twenty-three years. For the past eleven years, they have resided in Oconto Falls. He is a past commander of the Abrams American Legion Post.
Survivors are his wife Anna, a daughter, Juanita, Mrs. Harry Booth and a son, Joseph of Mountain, one sister, Mrs. Earl Giebrick of Aledo, Illinois and five grandchildren. Carrying the casket to its final resting-place were Herbert Bramschreiber, George Malcomson, W. D. Larsen, Fred Kardoskee, Henry Marks and George Meyer.
