Joseph P. PHILIPPI

SURING - Joseph P. Philippi, 75, of Knollwood Lane, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994. Joe was born Feb. 14, 1919 in the Town of How (note: Parents were Joseph Philippi Sr. and Barbara Weber.) He previously farmed in the area. He married Stella Dalfior on Dec. 22, 1971.

Joe was in the US Navy during World War II and worked at the ship yard in Manitowoc as chief crane operator. In later years he was an owner-operator and retired from Packerland Trucking in 1976. He served in World War II in the Navy and is a member of the US Submarine Veterans of WWII.He also was a member of the Mountain VFW and Suring American Legion Posts. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Suring.

Survivors include his wife, Stella; two daughters, Bonnie-Jeau Philippi-Larsen and Deborah Philippi, both of Manitowoc; as son, Boyd; three brothers, Roland and Mary, Suring; Martin and Mary, New Holstein; and Marion and Patricia, San Jacinto, CA; two sister, Anna Belle Colson, Marinette; and Mary Januchowski, Sun City, AZ; six grandchildren, including K.J. Godwin Larson; and several great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Orpha Lorraine Hintz.

The funeral was held Monday, Sept. 19, at the church (note:St. Michael in Suring)with the Rev. Frank Melchior officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
