John (Mike) Matheys, 85 resident of Town of Stiles, died March 15, 1998 at Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Mike was born December 3, 1912 at Marinette to the late John and Ella (Cornette) Matheys. He married Marion Ward; she preceded him in death on December 24, 1992. Mike worked at Country Garden in Coleman retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Stiles and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two daughters Mary (John) Rosinsky, Mishicot; Bonnie (Dr. George) Brown, Denver, CO; three sisters Lorraine Schnese, Junction City WI; Irene Petersohn, Sheboygan; Audrey Phillips, Oconto; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto where a prayer service was held. Funeral service was conducted Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Stiles with Rev. Carl Steiner officiating. Burial will be at the St. Patrick Cemetery, Stiles. Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service, Oconto Falls, on Friday Friends called at Jones Funeral Service, Oconto Falls. Rev. William Shepherd officiated at the service there on Saturday. Burial was in the Abrams-Stiles Cemetery.
