Agnes Jones Obituary

(1920 - 2012)

   Agnes Jones, 92, Gillett, Wis., passed away peacefully in her sleep early Monday morning, April 9, 2012. Agnes Marie Boyd was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Athelstane, Wis., to (Elijah) Otto and Ruth (Thompson) Boyd. She married John Franklin Jones on Jan. 28, 1939, in Amberg, Wis. The couple raised their family and farmed near Gillett for 48 years, before moving to their retirement home just outside Gillett in 1977.

Frank and Agnes were avid square dancers and gardeners. They were active in the community, especially with the fair. They particularly enjoyed attending the state fair board conventions. Agnes was a member of the local homemakers club and a long time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren loved her baking. Favorites included her cinnamon rolls and fresh strawberry shortcake with fresh, warm biscuits!

Survivors include six children, Franklin B. (Joan) Jones, Delavan, Wis.; Rita (George) Tuell, Green Bay, Wis.; Faye (Don) Hansen, Clintonville, Wis.; Joy (John) Aldridge, Pardeeville, Wis.; Col. Kurt (Elizabeth) Jones, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Todd Jones, Tigerton, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Ralph (Dottie) Boyd, Pasadena, Calif.; Dr. Wayne (Ellen) Boyd, Redlands, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Betty Boyd Clark, Everett, Wash.

Agnes was preceded in death by husband, Frank Jones; one son, Dale Jones; one brother, Joseph Boyd; three sisters, Gladys Makowski,, Grace Vanick, and, Mary Ann Grunwald.

Friends may call at Tabor United Methodist Church, 120 W Main St, Gillett, Wis. Visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. on April 18. Funeral Service 3 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Binford of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Interment is at Wanderer's Rest Cemetery, Gillett, Wis. Kuehl Funeral Home in Gillett is assisting the family with the arrangements.

The family thanks the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour, for the kindness, care and respect they gave Agnes.
