Jerry was born January 17, 1931 in Oconto to the late Howard and Carmen (Harwick) Young. He married Muriel Brennan December 4, 1954. Jerry Served in the Army and Marines. During the Korean War conflict he received battle wounds at Inchon Valley. Because of war time served and battle wounds Jerry received the Congressional Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star. Jerry worked for Karban Contractors, as a mechanic for Brown County Motors, for fourteen years, and for LeTourneau Plastics for ten years. In late years he was a self employed asphalt maintenance contractor and a fish and seafood salesman. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish, American Legion, Amvets, and VFW.
Jerry is survived by his wife Muriel; three daughters, Cynthia (Thomas) Langlay, Lena; Debra (Edward) Boucher Sr., Oconto; Susan (Bruce) Rosenberg, Oconto; two sons, Jerry (Connie) Young Jr., Oconto; Jesse Young, Green Bay; three brothers, Wayne (Shirley) Young, Oconto; Jim (Sharon) Young, Neenah; Thomas Young, Crivitz, three sisters, Pat Tappa, Peshtigo; Rose Rogers, West Palm Springs, FL; Joyce Young, Peshtigo; mother-in-law, Bernardiene Brennan, Oconto; three brothers-in-law, Pat (Debbie) Brennan, Oconto; Cyrenus Coshenet, Oconto; LaVern Rogers; three sisters-in-law, Arlene (Ray) Seidl, Peshtigo; Marion (Ron) DeHut Sr., Oconto; Faye Young; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Coshenet; one brother, Robert Young; father-in-law, Robert Brennan; brother-in-law, Michael Brennan.
The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto where a prayer service was held. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000, Holy Trinity Parish, St. Peter Site with Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
