Green Bay Press Gazette John Moynihan, 75, retired farmer, died Monday
morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Francis Wacek, in the town of
Spruce, where he had been making his home for a short time. He had been
ill for about two months.
Mr. Moynihan was born July 4, 1872, in County Kerry, Ireland, and came
to this community at the age of 16 and settled at Stiles. August 11, 1896,
he was married to the former Miss Jennie McGuire of Stiles. He worked in
lumber mills and in the lumber camps until 1902, when he settled on a farm
in the town of Oconto Falls. In 1916 he moved to a farm in the town of
Stiles where he farmed until his retirement in 1942, when he sold his farm
to his son, James.
His wife died in 1927 and a daughter, Leota, died in 1905. Survivors
are three sons, James, town of Stiles; Floyd, Big Bend, Wis. And William,
town of Oconto; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Genevieve) Phillips and Mrs.
Francis (Berenice) Wacek, town of Spruce, and 15 grandchildren.
The body will remain at the Flatley Funeral Home until time for the
rites, which are set for 9 am Thursday morning in St. Anthony Catholic
Church with the Rev. Francis Francart officiating. Burial will be in the
Catholic Cemetery here. The body may be viewed this evening. The rosary
will be said tonight and Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
